Post-construction cleaning in Dallas: a practical handover checklist

Construction cleaning is not the same as removing a few boxes after a project. Fine dust can settle after the crew leaves, and the last clean needs to be coordinated with the finish work that is actually complete.

Confirm the job is ready for its final clean

Before booking, walk the space and note whether paint touch-ups, flooring, glass installation, cabinetry work, or punch-list items are still in motion. Cleaning too early often means repeating work after another trade returns. Mark finished rooms and identify areas that must stay untouched.

Make the handover scope visible

• Remove construction dust from accessible horizontal surfaces, ledges, baseboards, and fixtures.
• Clean floors using a method appropriate for their finished material.
• Check windows, tracks, cabinetry exteriors, bathrooms, and kitchen surfaces for residue that belongs in the final clean.
• Set aside debris-removal, exterior-window work, or hazardous-material handling unless they are expressly included.

Document the details that change the quote

Share the property type, approximate size, project stage, access rules, utilities, and whether the space is furnished. Photos can help a cleaning provider see the difference between a remodel touch-up and a whole-home handover. That makes a clearer scope possible before anyone arrives.
